. . . Clapham Common . .

Clapham Angling Preservation Society (C.A.P.S.) is a voluntary organisation that was set up in 1993, it relies totally on Donations, Gifts, Grants, Sponsorship and Support from both inside and outside the sport to enable it to function. It's primary aims are to protect and promote angling on Clapham Common in South London. Not only for the present, but for future generations of anglers.

One of the main benefits of angling to both young and old alike is that it gives an all round awareness of the environment  and the things that go on in that environment as a whole. this is of a special benefit in an urbanized area such as Clapham, where open space is at a premium...

As the local MP for many users of Clapham Common. I have been very pleased to support The Clapham Angling Preservation Society wherever possible over the years.  I have great admiration for the society and it's unstinting work to improve the condition of the ponds, not just for anglers but for all users.  they have consistently campaigned for changes to the environment of the area and influenced the attitude of the relevant bodies towards anglers themselves

I know from personal experience that so many young people have benefited from the work of the society and developed an interest and talent in a sport that they would otherwise have had little experience of.  Angling is often overlooked as a sport, and is certainly one that is rarely encountered in such a big city.  I hope that C.A.P.S. go from strength to strength in the future.....
